Volunteers Needed

Director of Soccer Development: Kevin Murphy

Haverhill Youth Soccer is a completely volunteer organization that relies heavily on its parents to lend their support in the form of coaching each season. Our staff strives to provide every volunteer with the necessary training, continued guidance and supportive environment to become a successful coach. Soccer experience is not necessary and chances are you'll have as much, if not more, fun than the players!

All coaching positions are contingent upon obtaining a Mass Youth Soccer Adult Credential. Key elements of this process include:

  • Registering with MA Safe Soccer Platform

  • Background Checks, including State and National Sex Offender Searches

  • Abuse Prevention Education and Training

  • Concussion Training: CDC’s Heads Up Coaches Course

  • Adherence to Mass Youth Soccer Player and Participant Safety Policy

Development

Coaches in this program lead one of our fundamental groups through weekly training sessions on Saturdays. All necessary equipment and session plans are provided by HYS, and coaching education courses are readily available both online and in-person. Prior to each session, coaches meet for a brief clinic led by licensed coaches to gain a better understanding of the goal of that particular week's session plan. The time commitment for a coach in this program is between 60 and 75 minutes per week, or approximately 8 to 10 hours a season.

If you would like to volunteer as a Development coach, please send a brief email of interest to development@haverhillyouthsoccer.org.

In-Town

Coaches in this program lead one of our intramural teams through weekly training sessions and a friendly match on Saturdays. All necessary equipment and session plans are provided by HYS, and coaching education courses are readily available both online and in-person. The time commitment for a coach in this program is between 3 to 3 ½ hours per week, or approximately 24 to 28 hours a season.
