The Kicker - June 2022
June 2022
Hello HYS families,
It’s hard to believe that our season comes to an end this weekend. We’ve got lots of news to share.
Fall Registration
Registration for Fall 2022 will be opening up at 5pm on Saturday, June 18 for our TOT, Development and In-Town programs. The registration for Development and In-Town will remain at $80 and will be open to players in grades Pre-K to 6. TOT Soccer will be increased to $60, but we will also be expanding this Spring’s very successful pilot program from four to six weeks! TOT soccer is for children three years old. The link to register will be emailed out and will be posted on haverhillyouthsoccer.org
In addition, Travel Registration will remain open. We are still be able to add a few players as we approach fall, particularly G8 Girls and G6 Boys. We can also waitlist players interested and may be able to add a team or two in the Spring if there is enough interest. More information as we move along through the summer. You can register your child for TRAVEL only at this link: https://go.teamsnap.com/forms/298489
Essex County Playoffs Update
Six of Haverhill’s nine travel teams advanced to the Essex County Championship Tournament! Here’s a recap of the action so far. Of our High School Teams, only the Lady Hillies remain in the playoffs. A win this Sunday means they will be the Essex County Champions and will represent Haverhill in the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions in Lancaster next weekend. Two of our other High School teams played this week, but unfortunately did not advance. On Wednesday, the G8 Girls, Haverhill Reign, played a tough game against solid team from Saugus. Down 3-1 at the half, the Reign bounced back to tie the game which went back and forth ending in a 6-6 tie. Unfortunately, they lost in penalty kicks, but these girls found a way to fight back and should be very proud. Finally, both G6 teams, the Haverhill Storm (Boys) and Haverhill Valkyries (Girls) both have advanced to their semifinals on Saturday Morning and if they win, will play in a championship match on Sunday.
We wish all of these teams much luck this weekend!
Neighborhood Pickup Soccer
HYS is hoping to finalize an arrangement with the City of Haverhill to bring pickup soccer to different neighborhoods later this summer. Keep your eyes open for more information on facebook and in the July Kicker!
Soccer Parenting
And finally, please consider joining the Soccer Parenting Association. HYS has partnered with the Soccer Parenting Resource Center to provide each of our families to all of their content. Just go to https://soccerparentresourcecenter.com/register/club-membership/haverhillys/. Once signed up, please consider taking the Sideline Pledge at https://thesidelineproject.com/ . This will take you 10-15 minutes to complete and can only benefit your child’s playing experience.
Best Regards,
The HYS Board of Directors
