Fall 2020 - Development Info
UPDATE - August 22, 2020
We thank everyone who volunteered to be a coach or COVID Coordinator this fall. After much consideration, we have decided to hire coaches from Become Elite Soccer to run the program for the upcoming season. Carl Ashely, owner of Become Elite Soccer, has worked with HYS to conduct coaching clinics throughout previous seasons and we are confident that his coaches will ensure our players have a fun experience in a safe environment during this challenging time.
Therefore, we are excited to announce that registration for our Development program is OPEN!
Please be aware of the following changes and revisions to our policies for this particular season to ensure we follow Massachusetts Youth Soccer’s COVID-19 Return to Soccer Activities Guidelines:
Registration will open on August 22, 2020 and close on September 12, 2020.
Registration will be capped at 24 players on a first come, first served basis for each age group.
ONLY 1 parent/guardian will be allowed to attend a session to comply with guidelines regarding the maximum number of people permitted at an outdoor gathering.
Uniforms will not be required this season; please do not purchase a kit in advance.
Each player will be given their own pinny or “practice vest” to use throughout the season.
No Early of Late Registration periods.
No refunds will be issued; fees may be credited towards the following season (Spring 2021).
We hope that you and your families remain safe and healthy.

We would like to update everyone on our plans for the Development program (Pre-School to Grade 2) during the upcoming Fall 2020 season. Massachusetts Youth Soccer’s COVID-19 Return to Soccer Activities guidelines require us to have COVID Coordinators to oversee compliance at the team level. Along with two coaches, this means we must have three credentialed adults with each group of players this fall.
In order to make sure we can adhere to these guidelines, we will need parents to lend their support as volunteers before opening registration. If you are willing to help, please send a brief email to development@haverhillyouthsoccer.org before Friday, August 14th.
At that point, we will be able to determine how many groups per grade we can offer for the upcoming fall and open registration. For example, if we have six volunteers for Grade 1, we will be able to open registration for 24 players (two groups) for that grade. However, If we only have two volunteers, then we will not be able to open registration for Grade 1.
We know this is a brief explanation, so please do not hesitate to email our Development Director, Jon Jepson, at jjepson@haverhillyouthsoccer.org with any of your questions. Thank you for your patience and understanding during these unusual times and we hope you and your family are well.
